Welcome to the MMJK - the Malmö Model Railway Club / Malmö Modelljärnvägsklubb

The MMJK are building a new model railway!

In February 2007 the MMJK had to move from our old clubrooms where we had resided since 1980. We are presently building a brand new permanent layout in our new Malmö clubroom. The layout is DCC using Lenz technology with Peco Code 75 track. There is still a some amount of scenery work to be undertaken before it’s complete.

The new layout is based on parts of southern Sweden between 1950 to 1956. Modelled in 1:87 HO gauge, the layout features both standard gauge and narrow gauge (891 mm) track in H0n3.

The standard gauge track starts in the village Östervik, where there is a station for passenger trains and a marshalling yard for freight. There is also an engine shed and a turntable for steam locomotives. The locos can be either steam, electric or diesel.

Leaving Östervik the line passes the harbour and then runs through pretty landscape on route to Mållösa.  The village of Mållösa has two station buildings; Mållösa for standard gauge and Mållösa Övre for narrow gauge trains. Although Mållösa dates from 1944, Mållösa Övre was built in 1911 and had its name changed to Mållösa Övre (Övre = Upper) when the new standard gauge station was built. After Mållösa the line runs to the village Vilseleda. Vilseleda is the terminal station for the standard gauge track. The track between Mållösa and Vilseleda is not electrified. The village of Vilseleda boasts a number of local services such as a petrol station, post office, bank, grocers and a brewery. Here you will also find a building which is the home the Vilseleda Enahanda newspaper, which is the newspaper for the club. There are also two different operators on the standard track: SJ, the Swedish state railway and MMJ, a privately owned company.

WBJ has narrow gauge track (891 mm) which runs between Törkemåla and Doldhult. It is a point to point track. From Törkemåla you reach Wilseleda where freight can be loaded onto the wagons on the normal track going to Östervik. The narrow track continues to Mållösa Övre (Övre=Upper station). On the way to Wilseleda the track passes a small saw mill. After Mållösa Övre the track continues off into the great wide–world!
